WPF Architecture |
|

WPFArchitecture.pdf WPF Architecture
WPF is a powerful new presentation layer technology that allows you to build rich UI applications that target both the smart client and web delivery arenas. Using WPF, you can easily achieve compelling visual effects and intuitive user interface designs in a fraction of the time it would have taken to achieve such effects in previous technologies. To achieve these things, WPF has a completely new architecture compared to Windows Forms and ASP.NET. This talk will examine the architecture of WPF, and familiarize you with the constructs you will need to understand and employ to compose UI applications with WPF. You’ll get a brief overview of the technology as a whole, and you will learn about the basic building blocks of a WPF application, the different types of UI elements, and some of the underlying architecture that supports rich styling, animation, customization of the UI, data binding, and other features.

Behind the Scenes of the Enterprise Development
Behind the Scenes of the Enterprise Development Reference Architecture (EDRA) by Jonathan Wanagel from Microsoft patterns & practices presentation slide deck from Dec 15, 2004 Jonathan Wanagel from Microsoft patterns & practices.
This presentation discusses what happens "behind the scenes" in the creation of EDRA. It will discuss the architectural challenges in building enterprise business applications that were identified, and what were the best practices discovered in solving those challenges using the MS platform. Those challenges cover a cross section of architectural issues such as security, performance, and architectural governance. Lastly will be discussed is how the collection of those best practices were aggregated into a reusable application architecture framework.

Describing the Enterprise Architectural Space
| Presents an organizing table that describes the enterprise architectural space. |
|
This document presents an organizing table that describes the enterprise architectural space, shows relationships among artifacts in the space, and demonstrates how different roles in your enterprise view enterprise architecture. This document also demonstrates how pattern authors can use the organizing table to organize existing patterns and to identify areas where patterns are not currently documented. |

Interoperability of .NET and J2EE |
|
|
Interoperability of .NET and J2EE Ted Neward's Powerpoint slide deck from his Oct 20 presentation on Interoperability of .NET and J2EE. Interoperability is key going forward Until something comes along to replace them, Java and .NET are the next-generation software platforms Nothing on the horizon is poised to replace them Not all interoperability is out-of-process XML Some in-process interoperability is necessary Some "pure object" interoperability is necessary Both yield tight coupling Web services represent the future But will the future ever arrive? Keep your options open and keep an eye on the vendors

The architecture of how to build rich client n-tier internet applications in .NET. Utilizing technologies such as Object Relational Maping, this presentation describes how to business logic can be deployed to rich clients dynamically at run time. Utilizing the power available on client desktops, the user experience can be be based on rich client functionality. The architecture is highly scalable.
Jay Traband is the CTO of IdeaBlade, located in Emeryville, CA. |
